JOB PURPOSE

  • To undertake design of the electrical requirements including all electrical documentation and drawings for bespoke and turnkey projects ensuring compliance with client specifications, legislative requirements, quality and Health Safety and Environment Standards.
  • To undertake the selection of appropriate electrical equipment and the vetting of electrical suppliers and subcontractors for suitability to comply with project requirements.
  • To support both in-house and out-sourced electrical installation teams with the electrical installation in Cullum Works and on site.
  • To support works and site commissioning of the electrical requirements of projects.
  • To provide a professional electrical engineering service to the business and so interface with customers and suppliers to ensure activities are completed to meet or improve program, cost and quality expectations.
  • To undertake the electrical project management responsibilities for the project in line with the requirements of other departments within Cullum.


JOB ACTIVITIES

  • Perform concept and detail design work applying electrical principles to generate optimum customer solutions
  • Preparation of engineering drawings including but not limited to electrical GAs, schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, loop diagrams and hook-up diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Preparation of electrical documentation including but not limited to electrical equipment specifications, electrical design specifications, electrical test and inspection schedules and electrical method statements/risk assessments.
  • Preparation of Amtech models to confirm design compliance with the requirements of BS7671 : 2008 IEE Wiring Regulations – Seventeenth Edition, also to produce cable schedules.
  • To develop functional design specifications for PLC software. Carry out and take responsibility for site survey activities
  • Use IT packages effectively in the course of engineering activities (Excel, Word, AutoCad)
  • Interpret engineering drawings
  • Interpret and implement engineering specifications and standards
  • Self development to meet new requirements
  • Manage project timescales and achieve or improve deadlines
  • Provide progress status reports to line management on a regular basis and work to achieve or improve company and customer objectives of program, cost and quality
  • Provide an engineering resource for other departments
  • Work in accordance with the company standard business processes
  • Hazard identification and risk reduction


SUPERVISION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work on own initiative in a team environment
  • Responsible to the Electrical Engineering Manager for all aspects of the electrical design and integrity of the company’s range of products
  • To lead by example on the electrical discipline and operate to the highest engineering professional code of conduct
  • To identify and implement improvement initiatives within the department and the business as a whole
  • To liaise with other departments in achieving the departmental and business goals
  • To guide, mentor and supervise other staff as required

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Essential

  • Electrical Engineering Degree

 

Desirable

  • C&G 2382-10 or 2382-20 (BS7671:2008 IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition)


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a responsible electrical engineering position
  • Understanding of electrical engineering principles


Desirable

  • Experience of working to industrial electrical design codes
  • Familiar with the requirements of European Directives such as the Machinery Directive, EMC Directive, Low Voltage Directive.
